Mr Mamun Rahman is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, Cataract and Glaucoma for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. His main commitments are at two Glasgow hospitals: the New Stobhill Hospital, and the New Victoria Infirmary. He also has sessions at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital. He works privately at BMI Ross Hall Hospital in Glasgow. He is on the General Medical Council Specialist Register for Ophthalmology and is recognised by the General Medical Council as a Trainer (registration number 6048722).
He is a very experienced cataract surgeon and has performed over 5000 cataract operations. He is committed to excellence in practise and continually audits his surgery, which is currently 7 times safer than the national average for cataract surgery (last updated 17/2/21, based on 5096 consecutive cases).
He is a Regional Expert in minimally invasive surgeries (MIGS) and non surgical laser treatments for glaucoma such as Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT). He has performed more iStent procedures for the treatment of glaucoma, than any other surgeon in Scotland, and is amongst the most experienced in this type of surgery in the U.K. He is also one of the most experienced surgeons in Scotland for private Glaucoma Laser Treatments, and is the only surgeon performing Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty privately in Glasgow.
His previous research work has been awarded prizes at national level by professional organisations such as the UKEGS and the SOC.
